The Freedmen’s
schools(1865-1870)
The Freedmen’s schools were built by the federal government. There were a few schools that were supported by the government, for instance, Howard University, Hampton Institute, and Fisk University. It is a common place in history but it influenced a lot because of the education of the school and the medical care. It also helped some separated families reunited.
It is an important meaning for the slave because increasing education will help them improve better than just give them money directly. About 250000 students attend 4300 Freedmen’s school. They helped thousands of African Americans.
